Helping My Autistic Son Try New Foods: A Success Story
From a Patient, Persistent, Encouraging Mama
A.H. | Missouri City, Texas
My son’s challenge is picky eating. He has only eaten chicken nuggets and dry cereal for the past 2 years.
I’ve tried offering him different foods, smoothies, and watching shows about eating food. He usually runs away or cries when I offer him any other type of food.
Recently, I got him to try bacon for the 1st time, and he actually liked it. It seems so trivial and small, but it was a huge accomplishment and win.
First, I asked him if he wanted to touch it, after he touched it, I had him smell it, then lick it and then he finally took a bite!
This happened very recently, so I’m going to try and give him more bacon very soon. I’m going to do it slowly so that I don’t overwhelm him.
I could tell by the way he was smiling and grinning that he was very proud of himself.
To An Amazing Mom!
Mama, you've been lovingly persistent in finding gentle approaches that work for your autistic kiddo. You’re making each new food experience a win for him.
But most of all, you’re creating a safe and supportive environment for him to explore those new foods.
Such a beautiful way to celebrate his unique achievements. Your encouragement makes each small step a proud moment for him!
Mama, you’re doing an amazing job!
Thank you so much for sharing how you love on and encourage your baby!

Alesha’s First Sips: A Journey of Hope and Progress
From a Dedicated, Resilient, Hopeful Mama
M.K. | Richmond, Texas
Alesha eats through a catheter in her heart called total parental nutrition.
We tried feeding her in the past, but she's completely averse to food—even the sensation of it touching her skin.
Recently, we took her to the Dallas Children’s Feeding Program, and now she takes two sips of beef broth every day. She still relies on IV feeding to survive, but this small step is a huge milestone for her.
This progress wasn’t achieved alone—it took a team effort. While there’s still a long way to go, it feels life-changing to see her begin to take something by mouth.
P.S. To read more about Alesha's story follow her on Facebook at Cure For Alesha. You will be left inspired!
To An Amazing Mom!
It’s so clear how much love and determination you put into helping your little girl, and what a difference you’re making in her life. Doing whatever it took to get her to take those first sips of broth is such a big step—what an incredible win!
You’re doing an amazing job, mama. And you're making a difference not only in Alesha’s life but also by inspiring other parents in the special needs community.
We applaud you for your strength and encourage you to continue celebrating every step forward, no matter how small it may seem. They add up in ways that matter so much.
Thank you again for sharing the ways you love and uplift your little one!

Celebrating Gio's Journey to Independence.
From a Determined, Supportive, Empowered Mama
M.D. | Missouri City, Texas
We recently celebrated a win with Gio, our son on the spectrum.
When Gio was diagnosed at age 2, our primary goal was early intervention. As he has gotten older, our focus has shifted toward helping him gain more independence.
He recently mastered buttoning his own shirt and zipping his jacket! We work closely with Gio’s team to incorporate daily living skills, social skills, and vocational skills into his routine.
We’re incredibly grateful for his amazing therapists, who have patiently worked with Gio over and over to help him achieve these milestones. Woohoo!
Next, we’re working on teaching him to tie his shoelaces.
We just keep moving forward. I refuse to let anyone tell me my son can’t do something. It may take him longer, and he may need extra support, but we will never stop trying.
To An Amazing Mom!
Hi there, Mama!
Congratulations to you and Gio on such a big win—mastering buttoning shirts and zipping jackets is huge!
Your determination to support his independence is inspiring, and it’s amazing to see how you celebrate every milestone.
You’re such a supportive mom, working closely with his team to build daily living skills and set him up for success.
Teaching him to tie shoelaces is such an exciting next step! Keep celebrating those wins, big or small—every achievement is worth it.
The way you stay empowered and refuse to let anyone limit Gio’s potential is a beautiful reminder to all moms that our autistic kids are capable of incredible things.
Thank you for sharing your journey; it inspires so many of us autism and special needs moms. ❤️
